You may have heard of Awesome Inc, the makers of gratitude journals designed to help young people (and adults) build healthy daily reflection habits. Some Kindo schools already offer these journals through their school shops as an optional wellbeing-based fundraiser - and the feedback has been lovely: “Simple, calming, and surprisingly powerful.”
Recently, Awesome Inc welcomed new owners - Sarah & Hunter, a husband-and-wife team with a background in storytelling and documentary work. Rather than reinventing the brand, they’ve stepped in with a promise to protect the heart of what it stands for: gratitude as a daily practice, not just an idea. They put it beautifully in their first message to customers:
“Your journals, your rituals, and your daily moments of reflection will always be at the centre of what we do. We’ll continue building a community that inspires joy, calm, and gratitude every single day.”
Why This Caught Our Attention
In a world where school fundraising often defaults to sugar or stuff - we love seeing options that give back twice:
✅ Funds raised for school programmes
✅A tool that supports student wellbeing along the way
Teachers tell us gratitude journaling is used in lots of simple ways:
- As a morning warm-up activity
- As a calm-down reset after busy transitions
- As part of classroom reflection circles
- Or slipped into school bags to share with whānau at home
No huge programme. No assembly launch. Just small moments that stack up quietly over time.
Mental Health Awareness Week
Last week also happened to be Mental Health Awareness Week across Aotearoa, with this year’s theme “Top Up Together” - encouraging Kiwis to recharge not just individually, but as a collective.
Gratitude sits perfectly among the Five Ways to Wellbeing: Take Notice. Connect. Give. Keep Learning. Be Active.
And it’s one of those rare habits that feels good both when you receive it - and when you give it.
Keen to Bring This to Your School?
If you’d like to run a wellbeing-centred fundraiser with Awesome Inc through your Kindo school shop, just get in touch - we can help you get set up quickly and easily.
Or simply file this away as “good things happening in our wider school community.”
Here’s to more fundraisers that lift spirits as well as budgets.
And to Sarah & Hunter - welcome to the Kindo orbit. We’re cheering you on. 💛
